SANPADA: An initiative focusing on protecting the vision of school children through checkup and awareness campaign by experts has started in Navi Mumbai. The drive will continue till August. More than 200 school children have received a free eye check-up at Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute (AEHI).
About 30 schools from Nerul, Sanpada, Vashi, Kharghar, Kopar Khairane, Belapur and Chembur have partnered with AEHI.
The programme named Nanhe Nayan has been launched in association with One Vision Health and Research Foundation and Bank of India.
According to Dr Vandana Jain, cornea specialist and director of AEHI: “A survey of 5,000 Navi Mumbai school children showed that one in every five kids in the city suffers from some vision problem which affects their studies.
